Philadelphia Mummers

Deep in the heart of South Philly, there are countless clubs that meet on a regular basis, designing costumes with the annual objective of performing in the Mummers Parade on New Year’s Day.  Apparently this is a tradition that started way back in 400BC, and survives today with its Fancy Brigades, Comics and String Bands that march up Broad Street to City Hall to battle for points from a team of judges.

During your Philadelphia city tour, go to South Philly to see the Mummers Museum and find out more about the traditions.
